John Clouser joined The Cleveland Orchestra as principal bassoon at the beginning of the 1997-98 season. His solo appearances with the Orchestra include the Mozart Bassoon Concerto; Haydn’s Sinfonia concertante for violin, cello, oboe, and bassoon; Richard Strauss’s Duet-Concertino for clarinet, bassoon, and strings; and Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante for oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, and orchestra. Mr. Clouser is a previous member of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. He has participated in music festivals including Colorado, Flagstaff, Grand Teton, Peninsula (WI), Round Top, and Tanglewood. Born in Boston, John Clouser studied at Gordon College, Trenton State College, and Temple University. Mr. Clouser is head of the bassoon department of the Cleveland Institute of Music and a faculty member of the Kent/Blossom Music professional training program.
