Ann Usher has served as director of the Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Choruses since 2000.  She prepares the Children’s Chorus for their appearances as part of the annual Christmas concerts, community concerts, and in the Orchestra’s performances of operas and symphonic works that call for children’s voices.   

Ann Usher is a professor of music at the University of Akron, where she conducts the University Singers and teaches graduate and undergraduate choral music education.  She was recently appointed director of the University’s School of Music and has served as interim director of the School of Dance, Theater, and Arts Administration. Prior to joining the Akron faculty, she taught public school choral music for eleven years, specializing in the middle school level. Ms. Usher has served on the Adjudicated Events Committee of the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) since 1999 and has held several offices in both OMEA and the Ohio Choral Directors Association.  Her groups have performed at several state and regional conferences for both organizations.  

Active as a clinician and adjudicator, Ann Usher holds a bachelor of music education degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and a master of music degree in choral conducting and a doctorate in music education from Kent State University.
