Since The Cleveland Orchestra's founding in 1918, Greater
Clevelanders have supported the Orchestra's administrative, educational,
financial, and community outreach needs by volunteering their time and
talent. The following volunteer opportunities are available.
SERVICE VOLUNTEERS FOR THE CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA
For those who like working with people, volunteering for The Cleveland Orchestra offers an opportunity to hear great music, make new friends and serve a world class arts organization that is one of the treasures of our city.
Volunteers are needed to work at the Cleveland Orchestra Store during the day, Tuesday through Friday, evenings whenever there is a concert and at Blossom during the summer Blossom Festival Season on concert evenings. Tasks include in store selling, processing web and phone orders, merchandising, and operating the cash register. Interview and training required. Contact the Store Manager at (216) 231-7477.
Volunteer Severance Hall Tour Guides lead visitors on tours of the magnificent building that is the Home of The Cleveland Orchestra providing historical and architectural information about The Cleveland Orchestra and Severance Hall. A script, maps and a wealth of backup material are provided. Interview and training required. Contact the House Manager at (216) 231-7425.
Severance Hall ushers help ensure that all patrons have a wonderful experience at Severance Hall by providing guidance and information to patrons at every public event. They are expected to meet, greet and seat patrons and to assure their comfort and safety while in our building. Ten ushering teams share the season schedule. Interview and training required. The Junior Volunteer Corps (JVC) offers an opportunity for middle and high school students to earn community service credit and enjoy serving The Cleveland Orchestra and Severance Hall. Students are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday events as greeters, ticket takers and ushers. Some may elect to volunteer in the store. Students learn important customer service skills and make new friends. Contact the Assistant House Manager at (216) 231-7425.
VOLUNTEER MEMBERSHIP GROUPS
Volunteer membership groups support, promote, and expand
the influence of The Cleveland Orchestra. Members of the following organizations
enjoy a wide range of special activities targeted to their members and
are ready to meet the needs of The Cleveland Orchestra as they arise.
The Women's Committee of The Cleveland Orchestra was
founded in 1921 by the Orchestra's first general manager, Adella Prentiss
Hughes, to help nourish the educational activities of the Orchestra. Open to
women and men of all ages, today's Women's Committee actively supports the
Orchestra through educational activities (including music appreciation classes
and children's concert assistance) and financial contributions.
The Junior Committee of The Cleveland Orchestra
(JCCO) was founded in 1968 as a nonprofit organization. The JCCO is a group of
committed volunteers building a community of diverse supporters to promote the
mission of The Cleveland Orchestra through leadership, innovation, education,
fund raising, and personal growth.
The Blossom Women's Committee of The Cleveland Orchestra
was created in 1968 and is open to women wishing to assist in promoting
the cultural and support activities of Blossom Music Center. Each year,
the Committee undertakes a number of projects to further these objectives,
as well as to raise funds toward Blossom's long-term financial stability.
