John de Lancie, narrator
Mozart: Serenade No. 7 (“Haffner”), K. 250
| MOZART THE MAN –
Mozart “Haffner” Serenade
For this edition of Musically Speaking, the great Hollywood actor John de Lancie writes, produces, and presents a unique look at one of the greatest composers of all time. As a man, and as a creative musician. The Orchestra performs excerpts of “Haffner” Serenade to demonstrate important themes of the work, before performing the complete piece after intermission. Best known for his portrayal of the character Q in Star Trek, Mr. de Lancie narrated Grieg’s Peer Gynt for The Cleveland Orchestra in 2007.
Before the Concert: Members of The Cleveland Orchestra will perform a free prelude chamber concert for Musically Speaking ticketholders in Reinberger Chamber Hall at 2:00 p.m. After the Concert: Stay for a casual post-concert chat and Q&A with guest artists and musicians.

The Mozart Experience Family Concert
The Cleveland Orchestra
Tito Muñoz, conductor
Magic Circle Mime Company
| The Mozart Experience cleverly combines music and mime to introduce young audiences to the life and music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. An impetuous street musician caught playing the orchestra’s grand piano is offered the chance (much to her surprise) to “be Mozart” for this program about one of the most famous composers of all time. The street musician and her prankster companion lead the audience on a wonderful musical adventure that reveals the very human story of Mozart’s life, and his musical genius. Audiences will enjoy excerpts of some of Mozart’s most famous works, including Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Papageno’s Song from The Magic Flute, and more. For ages 7 and up.
