English pianist Stephen Hough, who the Chicago Sun-Times said “can make the greatest concertos of the Romantic tradition full of life and power,” returns to the Blossom Festival to perform Johannes Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor with The Cleveland Orchestra in a concert on Saturday, July 31, at 8 p.m. The program also features Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Sergei Prokofiev’s Suite from Lieutenant Kijé. David Zinman, chief conductor of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in his 14th Blossom Festival appearance.

Sunday, August 1

New York cabaret star Ann Hampton Callaway makes her Cleveland Orchestra debut in a “Broadway Swings” program on Sunday, August 1, at 7 p.m. Ms. Callaway will join the Orchestra for Broadway favorites by Gershwin, Porter, Rodgers, Weill, and others, including “From This Moment On,” “I Get a Kick out of You,” “Embraceable You,” “Mack the Knife,” and “Sing, Sing, Sing.” The concert will be conducted by Jack Everly, newly named music director of the National Memorial Day Concert and A Capital Fourth on PBS, who made his Cleveland Orchestra debut at the Blossom Festival in August 2009. Mr. Everly also serves as principal pops conductor of the orchestras of Baltimore, Indianapolis, and Naples (FL).
