Stéphane Denève, Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, makes his Blossom Festival debut with The Cleveland Orchestra in a concert on Saturday, July 10, at 8 p.m., featuring French and French-inspired works by Debussy, Ravel, Berlioz, and Stravinsky. Cleveland Orchestra Principal Clarinet Franklin Cohen is featured in Debussy’s First Rhapsody for Clarinet and Orchestra on a program that also includes Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, Ravel’s Suite No. 2 from Daphnis and Chloe, the “Love Scene” from Berlioz’s Romeo and Juliet, and Stravinsky’s Suite from The Firebird.

Sunday, July

Hailed by critics for recalling “... Perlman in his prime” (Miami Herald), violinist Giora Schmidt makes his Cleveland Orchestra debut performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto on Sunday, July 11, at 7 p.m. The program includes Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story and Elgar’s “Enigma” Variations. Cleveland Orchestra Assistant Conductor Tito Muñoz conducts.
