English conductor Sir Andrew Davis, music director and principal conductor of Lyric Opera of Chicago since 2000, conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in a program featuring Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5 (“Turkish”) with Cleveland Orchestra Concertmaster William Preucil as soloist on Thursday, October 28, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 30, at 8 p.m. Reflecting Sir Andrew’s background in the English music tradition, the program includes two works by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams: Five Mystical Songs with English baritone Christopher Maltman as soloist, and Toward the Unknown Region, for chorus and orchestra, featuring the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. The program opens with Haydn’s Symphony No. 22 (“The Philosopher”).
FREE CONCERT PREVIEWS
Concert Previews will be given one hour before each performance. In Previews titled “Meet the Conductor,” Sir Andrew Davis will talk with Randy Elliott, assistant artistic administrator for The Cleveland Orchestra. This series is funded by a generous endowment gift from Dorothy Humel Hovorka.
“MEET THE ARTIST” LUNCHEON PROGRAM WITH SIR ANDREW DAVIS
The first program in the 2010-11 “Meet the Artist” series presented by the Women’s Committee of The Cleveland Orchestra takes place on Friday, October 29, 2010. Sir Andrew Davis will be the featured speaker. For more information, click here.

Ticket Office: The Severance Hall Ticket Office is located in the Smith Lobby. The entrance and 15-minute Ticket Service parking are along East Boulevard. The Ticket Office is open 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Closed Sundays and holidays, except for those days with performances, when the Ticket Office opens 3 hours before concert start time.
