Alban Gerhard
German conductor and composer Matthias Pintscher conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in a program featuring the United States premiere of his work for cello and orchestra titled Reflections on Narcissus with cellist Alban Gerhardt as soloist on Thursday, November 4, at 8 p.m. The program also includes Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso and Mother Goose.
Matthias Pintscher served as The Cleveland Orchestra’s second Daniel R. Lewis Young Composer Fellow, from 2000 to 2002. Last June, he conducted the Orchestra in Composers Connect, two free concerts featuring well-received performances of works commissioned for The Cleveland Orchestra in the past decade from Mr. Pintscher and three of the other Daniel R. Lewis Young Composer Fellows. Alban Gerhardt made his Cleveland Orchestra debut as soloist in the Dvořák Cello Concerto during the 2006 Blossom Festival. The November 4 concert marks his Severance Hall debut.
