German conductor David Afkham (assistant conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra) makes his debut with The Cleveland Orchestra in a program featuring Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, with Jon Kimura Parker as soloist, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10. Jon Kimura Parker made his debut with The Cleveland Orchestra at the Blossom Festival in August 1989. Since then, he has appeared with the Orchestra on a regular basis, most recently in November 2007.

Sunday, July 24, at 7 p.m.
Hans Graf (music director of the Houston Symphony) leads The Cleveland Orchestra in a program titled “A Night in Vienna” that features waltzes and polkas by Johann Strauss Jr. as well as Maurice Ravel’s La Valse (“The Waltz”) and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25, with Jeffrey Kahane as soloist.
Hans Graf has guest-conducted The Cleveland Orchestra in concerts spanning more than a decade, most recently in sold-out concerts at Severance Hall featuring Holst’s The Planets, in November 2010.
Jeffrey Kahane made his Cleveland Orchestra debut in April 1991. His most recent performance with the Orchestra was at the Blossom Festival in August 2001. Mr. Kahane makes a welcome return to Blossom for this concert.

Blossom Music Center opened in 1968 as the summer home of The Cleveland Orchestra. It is located 25 miles south of Cleveland in Summit County, just north of Akron, Ohio.
