Announcing Auditions for the 2011 Blossom Festival Chorus
and 2011-12 Cleveland Orchestra Chorus

Requirements for all
Prepare two pieces, each approximately two minutes in length.
One selection must be from the classical literature and in a foreign language.
Second selection of a contrasting style (does not need to be classical or in a foreign language).
Previous choral experience and sight-reading skills are required.
Additional requirements for Cleveland Orchestra Chorus consideration
All voice parts: Excerpt from Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms.
Sopranos only: Excerpt from Mozart’s Mass in C minor, K.427
(Both provided when audition appointment is scheduled)

CONCERT: August 27, 2011, Works by Handel and Mendelssohn

Cleveland Orchestra Chorus 2011-12 Season
The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus season generally begins in September and ends in May. Rehearsals are typically held every Monday evening, with some additional Sundays and evening rehearsals on concert weeks.
The 2011-12 season will include the following performances:
September 10, 2011 – Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Opus 125
September 29, 2011 – Stravinsky: Mass (chamber chorus)
October 6 and 9, 2011 – Mozart: Mass in C minor, K. 427
December 2011 – Holiday Concerts
February 9, 11, 12, 2012 – Schubert: Hymnus an den Heiligen Geist, D.948; Nachtgesang im Walde, D.913; Gesang der Geister über den Wassern, D.714 (male chorus)
February 16, 18, 19, 2012 – Stravinsky: Symphony of Psalms
March 8, 9, 10, 11, 2012 – Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Opus 125
May 31, June 2, 2012 – Verdi: Requiem
The Blossom Festival Chorus and the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus are volunteer organizations. Chorus members are not compensated.
Performance dates and repertoire are subject to change.
