The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, now in its 26th season, performs its first Severance Hall concert of the 2011-12 season on Sunday, November 20, at 3 p.m. James Feddeck, in his third season as music director of the Youth Orchestra, conducts a program that opens with Johannes Brahms’s Academic Festival Overture, Opus 80, followed by Johann Sebastian Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major, BWV 552 (“St. Anne”), orchestrated by Arnold Schoenberg. After intermission, the program concludes with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major, Opus 88.
FREE CONCERT PRELUDE
Ensembles from the Youth Orchestra will perform chamber music at a Prelude Concert in Reinberger Chamber Hall beginning at 2 p.m. The Prelude program is free to concert ticket holders. A string quartet comprised of violinist Gabe Napoli (Cleveland Heights/attends Hawken School), violinist Joy Regimbal (Hartville/homeschooled), violist Courtney O’Keefe (Hudson High School), and cellist Benjamin Francisco (Hudson/attends Hawken School) will perform the first movement of Edvard Grieg’s String Quartet No. 1 in G minor, Opus 27. The ensemble is coached by Eli Matthews, first assistant principal second violin of The Cleveland Orchestra. A string trio comprised of violinist Kaelyn Quinn (Akron/attends Hathaway Brown), violist Nicholas Bobbs (Pepper Pike/attends University School), and cellist Helen Peyrebrune (Cleveland Heights/attends The Lyceum) will perform the first movement of Beethoven’s String Trio in C minor, Opus 9, No. 3. The ensemble is coached by Charles Bernard, assistant principal cello of The Cleveland Orchestra. Also performing will be a woodwind quartet comprised of flutist Elise Campbell (Mayfield High School), oboist Joshua Lauretig (Beachwood High School), clarinetist Rosemary Bullock (Norton/homeschooled), and bassoonist Vincent Disantis (Willoughby South High School). The ensemble is coached by retired Cleveland Orchestra oboist Elizabeth Camus.
Each of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra’s concerts this season is to be broadcast on later dates by WCLV 104.9 FM. The November 20 concert is scheduled to be broadcast at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2012, and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012.

The Severance Hall Ticket Office is located in the Smith Lobby. The entrance and 15-minute Ticket Service parking are along East Boulevard. The Ticket Office is open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday-Friday and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The office is closed Sundays and holidays, except for those days with performances, when it opens 3 hours before concert start time.
