News Release
The Cleveland Orchestra announces
2011-12 KeyBank Fridays@7 series
Begins October 14
Release date: September 30, 2011
The Cleveland Orchestra’s popular Fridays@7 concerts continue in 2011-12 with an early start time, no intermission, and an after-party following each concert. KeyBank Fridays@7 concerts are less formal, onstage and off. After each 7 p.m. Cleveland Orchestra concert, world music expert Jamey Haddad invites a selection of artists to collaborate in a unique musical celebration.
Cleveland Orchestra Music Director Franz Welser-Möst conducts the opening event on October 14, followed by guest conductors Marin Alsop on December 9, Giancarlo Guerrero on March 16, 2012, and Lionel Bringuier on May 11, 2012. This season’s pre- and post-concert performances include a Cleveland jazz band, Cleveland-style polka, hoedown music by a Zanesville swing band, and the return of 2011 MacArthur Fellow Alisa Weilerstein, appearing at the post-concert party after her performance with the Orchestra as soloist in Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1.
