The Cleveland Orchestra's popular Fridays@7 concerts continue with an early start time, no intermission, and an @fter Party unlike anything else in Cleveland. Fridays@7 concerts are less formal onstage and offstage. Following each Cleveland Orchestra concert, world music expert Jamey Haddad invites a selection of artists to collaborate in a unique musical celebration. Great music to round out your evening and expand your horizons.

It begins softly. A single snare drum. Then, a flute. Gradually, each instrument joins in. One after the other. For the opening program, Franz Welser-Möst leads a program featuring Ravel's hypnotic Boléro. Plus superstar Nicolaj Znaider returns to Severance Hall to perform the passionate music of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto.

Giancarlo Guerrero returns to Severance Hall to lead this Fridays@7 concert featuring two masterfully exciting works, with pianist Gabriela Montero performing the keyboard wizardry of Edvard Grieg's melodically delicious Piano Concerto. Followed by Ottorino Respighi's orchestral showpiece The Pines of Rome, a spellbinding tapestry of ancient and modern Italian life written into colorful, unforgettable music.

The pounding rhythm, the glowing melodic lines, the astounding creativity imbedded in the music of Stravinsky's The Firebird ballet score comes to life again as the young French conductor Lionel Bringuier makes his Severance Hall debut. And Fridays@7 favorite artist Alisa Weilerstein returns to perform the polished, angular pyrotechnics of Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto.

Doors open for libations, creative cuisine and pre-concert music
@ 7 p.m.
The Cleveland Orchestra performs. There’s no intermission.
It’s straight-through like a movie. Exciting and to the point.
@8:15 p.m.
After the concert, stay for an after-party complete with live world music,
drinks, food, relaxing, and Friday fun.

October 1, 2010
Franz Welser-Möst led the Orchestra in a concert featuring Beethoven's Third Symphony. The @fter Party included Brazilian-inspired world music ensemble Nation Beat and the local dance ensemble Passport Project.
December 3, 2010
Pinchas Steinberg conducted Mahler’s First Symphony. The evening also featured a pre-concert performance of Indian classical music, and the @fter Party with the New York Gypsy All-Stars, joined by world percussionist Jamey Haddad. Q104's Allan Fee began his birthday celebration and fans from Gordon Square’s Happy Dog came to Severance Hall by bus.

Franz Welser-Möst led Richard Strauss’s magnificently glowing self-portrait, Ein Heldenleben (or “A Hero’s Life”). For the @fter Party, Afro-Latin super-band Mango Blue performed.
