CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA

The Cleveland Orchestra
Nicholas McGegan, conductor
Michael Sachs, trumpet

Concert Details

Fun-filled, warm, and tuneful, Haydn’s "London" symphonies are among his greatest achievements, and have been popular from their premieres more than two centuries ago.  “This wonderful man never fails,” the Morning Chronicle wrote of Haydn, “and the various powers of his inventive and impassioned mind have seldom been ... listened to with greater rapture by the hearers, than they were this evening.” Composed for a keyed trumpet, Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto is a technically demanding work for the soloist, performed here by the Orchestra’s principal trumpet, Michael Sachs.
