A New Century
Featuring six new recordings that proudly showcase the partnership between The Cleveland Orchestra and music director Franz Welser-Möst, A New Century offers worldwide access to this acclaimed ensemble's evolving artistry — and marks the launch of its own record label.
Franz Welser-Möst has added to an extensive and widely-praised catalog of audio recordings made during the tenures of the ensemble’s former music directors. He has created DVD recordings of live performances of five of Bruckner’s symphonies, presented in three acoustically distinctive venues (the Abbey of St. Florian in Austria, Vienna’s Musikverein, and Severance Hall).
Franz and the Orchestra have also created a set of Brahms orchestral works, including the four symphonies, two piano concertos, and violin concerto. With Cleveland, he has also released a recording of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony as well as an all-Wagner album featuring soprano Measha Brueggergosman. In addition, in recent seasons the Orchestra has recorded a series of albums with longtime guest artist Mitsuko Uchida.
