Each Cleveland Orchestra Family Concert features fun and interactive preconcert activities including the popular Instrument Discovery zone (a kid-favorite!), an interactive, hands-on opportunity for children to try various orchestral instruments and discover their inner musician, beginning one hour prior to each performance.

The Cleveland Orchestra's Family Concert Series is supported by the Weiss Family Foundation.

    The Halloween Spooktacular, a program filled with magic Tricks and musical Treats in celebration of Halloween, features Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. A costume contest will take place at 1:00 p.m. along with Instrument Discovery and more Halloween fun!

    A mischievous street musician is caught playing the orchestra’s piano. Much to her surprise, the conductor doesn’t scold her but instead offers her the chance to “be Mozart.” Visual theater and music are united in a program that includes excerpts from some of Mozart’s most famous works, including Eine kleine Nachtmusik, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, Symphony No. 41 (“Jupiter”), and more.

    It’s a menagerie of music-making! Camille Saint-Saëns’s beloved classic, Carnival of the Animals, performed especially for our family audiences by the world-renowned Katia and Marielle Labèque. This grand zoological exploration is a whimsical and charming work for orchestra and narrator that is sure to delight. Music by Rossini, Anderson, and Gershwin round out this wild and wooly concert.
