A $6 million community challenge to secure the Orchestra's future.

An update from our President & CEO, André Gremillet:

Dear Friends,

Below you will find important news and information concerning The Cleveland Orchestra’s summer concerts in July, August and early September 2020.

As we all adjust and adapt to the continuing coronavirus/Covid-19 crisis, we are inspired by the dedication of our community, especially those on the front lines, to overcoming this threat. While we are encouraged by the progress we all are making in this fight it is becoming apparent that large-group gatherings this summer will not be in the best interest of the health of everyone across our community and beyond. So today we have made the difficult decision to cancel the The Cleveland Orchestra’s 2020 Blossom Music Festival and Summers@Severance seasons.

Despite these challenging circumstances we remain committed to serving our community with the hope, comfort, aspiration and joy of extraordinary music. We will continue to offer that music remotely through the “@Home with The Cleveland Orchestra” initiative and look forward to live performances as soon as it is safe and conducive for doing so.

Cancellation of 2020 Blossom Music Festival and 2020 Summers@Severance concerts.

The 2020 Blossom Music Festival and 2020 Summers@ Severance will not take place, with most of the scheduled concerts canceled. Two weekends of programming will be postponed from the 2020 Blossom Music Festival (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert [July 17-19] and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™ in Concert [August 29 and 30]) and moved to summer of 2021.

What does this mean for you?

For Blossom and Summers@Severance subscribers and single ticketholders, we offer the following options::

  • Donate your tickets.Donate your tickets. If you are able to, please consider donating your tickets to The Cleveland Orchestra and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value. This option will help most in efforts to help fortify the Orchestra’s finances in this period of uncertainty. Ticket donations can be made at: clevelandorchestra.com/donatetickets. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
  • Exchange your tickets for a gift certificate for 110% of the value of your purchase, which can be used at any time in the future, including as payment toward your 2020-21 Season subscription. Please contact Ticket Services at 216-231-1111.
  • Receive a refund for the value of the ticket.
  • Subscribers can rollover their subscription to the 2021 season, plus receive an additional $25 gift certificate to use at any time.

For our Members Club and The Circle patrons paying a monthly membership fee, we offer the following options:

  • Convert your membership fee to a tax deductible contribution to the Annual Fund
  • Suspend your fee till August.

Please email memberservices@clevelandorchestra.com or thecircle@clevelandorchestra.com to let us know your preference for how to handle your monthly membership fee.

For Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets single ticket holders, in addition to the above options, these performances will be rescheduled into the Blossom 2021 Season. New tickets and parking passes will be re-issued to you at a later date, plus you will receive a voucher for a ticket to a selected Cleveland Orchestra concert at Blossom in 2021. These new concert dates are as follows:

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets™: June 26 & 27, 2021
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Sept 3, 4, & 5, 2021

Lawn Ticket Book holders who hold onto their 2020 books will receive two extra lawn passes as a thank you for your understanding. If you prefer not to keep your Lawn Ticket Books for 2021 you may choose one of the other options listed above but you will need to return your 2020 Lawn Ticket Books and any parking passes to the Ticket Office for your request to be processed.  These can be mailed to:

Cleveland Orchestra Ticket Office
11001 Euclid Ave.
Cleveland, OH 44106

All ticketholders should contact The Cleveland Orchestra before September 7, 2020, to request one of the above options for ticket exchange, gift certificates, or credits. After that time, any outstanding tickets from canceled 2020 Blossom Music Festival and Summers@Severance performances will be automatically converted into a monetary donation to The Cleveland Orchestra and the ticket office will issue a letter detailing the gift for tax purposes.

How can you request an exchange or credit?

To ensure the health and safety of everyone involved, Severance Hall ticket office staff members are currently working remotely, and Severance Hall is closed to the public until further notice.

To reach a member of our ticket office staff, ticketholders can send an email to  boxoffice@clevelandorchestra.com or call the ticket office at 216-231-1111 and leave a message. Messages will receive a reply as quickly as possible, usually within 24 hours or by the end of the next business day. Everyone involved appreciates the understanding of all ticketholders as all of these requests and questions are worked through and resolved.
