Concert Details

Written to memorialize and eulogize, to remember and commemorate the lives lost on 9/11, John Adams describes his Pulitzer Prize-winning work as a soundtrack “sewn together.”  The text — some sung, some spoken — is composed of words desperately scribbled on posters near Ground Zero, as families searched for and ultimately mourned their loved ones. Mahler’s Fourth Symphony paints an uplifting picture of earthly afterlife, a child’s vison of heaven as a place filled with earthly delights and tuneful melodies.
