Corbin Stair joined The Cleveland Orchestra as second oboe in May 2015 at the age of 22. A graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music, he studied with The Philadelphia Orchestra’s longtime principal oboe, Richard Woodhams. Other mentors include John Ferrillo (Boston Symphony Orchestra) and Reid Messich (University of Georgia). Stair has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra and The Iris Chamber Orchestra, and he is an alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival and Tanglewood Music Center. Also, Stair has led masterclasses at Oberlin Conservatory and The Cleveland Institute of Music and is frequently consulted for audition preparation.

Off the stage, Stair is involved in church activities and enjoys Bible study. He also has a passion for trees and plants, maintaining a specimen collection at his family’s homestead in Bath, Ohio. Additionally, Stair is an enthusiastic fan of Cleveland area sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes, and enjoys watching games with his two cats, Henry and Olive.
