Joanna Patterson Zakany
Joanna Patterson Zakany joined the viola section of The Cleveland Orchestra at the beginning of the 2006-07 season. Prior to that, she served as principal viola of the Ohio's Canton Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Patterson Zakany was born in Monte-Carlo, Monaco. She studied at the Académie de Musique Rainier III, and also took lessons with Michel Mikalakakos at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. She subsequently received her undergraduate degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Cleveland Orchestra principal viola Robert Vernon.
Joanna Patterson Zakany has performed as soloist with L’Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Canton Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Philharmonic, Federal Way Symphony, and the Cleveland State University Orchestra. She teaches at Kent State University as an assistant professor and is member of both the Omni String Quartet and Ensemble HD.
