The tone poem that launched Richard Strauss to international renown, Don Juan is a showcase for his singular style and painterly gift for imagery, as is the whimsical Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks, which depicts the rise and fall of a roguish antihero. The Cleveland Orchestra and French conductor Alain Altinoglu are also joined by celebrated Cleveland native Alisa Weilerstein, who makes a triumphant homecoming with Unsuk Chin’s utterly dazzling Cello Concerto.
