Announcing the 2026–27 Recital Series

The Cleveland Orchestra is excited to welcome a compelling lineup of artists to Severance Music Center as part of its 2026–27 Recital Series, now entering its fourth season. The Cleveland Orchestra’s Recital Series invites audiences to experience internationally celebrated musicians with programs that span centuries, styles, and artistic perspectives.

It opens with pianist Lang Lang’s return to Cleveland on September 12. His program moves from the elegance of Mozart’s Rondo in D major to the emotional depth of Beethoven’s “Pathétique” Sonata and the introspective Sonata No. 31. The vibrant second half of Lang Lang’s recital highlights Spanish and Romantic repertoire, with selections from Albéniz’s Suite española, an evocative movement from Granados’s Goyescas, and virtuosic works by Liszt.

Violinist Lisa Batiashvili, cellist Gautier Capuçon, and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet come together on October 19 to explore the expressive possibilities of the piano trio. The program pairs Shostakovich’s youthful Piano Trio No. 1 and Debussy’s lyrical Piano Trio with Dvořák’s dramatic Piano Trio No. 3.

The series continues with pianist Stephen Hough on January 26, 2027. The wide-ranging program features works by Schubert, Brahms, Schoenberg, and Stockhausen before Beethoven’s “Waldstein” Sonata. It concludes with Schumann’s Carnaval and Hough’s own arrangement of music from Mary Poppins, blending tradition with imaginative reinterpretation.

Pianist Garrick Ohlsson brings his celebrated affinity for Chopin to Severance Music Center on March 16, 2027. The all-Chopin program features a rich selection of nocturnes and character pieces including his Barcarolle and Fantasie. It culminates in the Piano Sonata No. 3, offering a comprehensive portrait of the composer’s voice.

The 2026–27 Recital Series concludes on April 20, 2027, with pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. The program blends lyricism and virtuosity across works, moving from a selection of Grieg’s Lyric Pieces through evocative works by Debussy and Ravel, and culminating in Kapustin’s Eight Concert Etudes.

The Recital Series is part of the expanded programming at Severance Music Center, reflecting an ongoing commitment to presenting a wide spectrum of entertainment experiences.
